Time is Flying!

25 Nov 01

I have over 1000 members now. I have been busy traveling (TDY and pleasure) and will be doing some heavy input over the next couple of weeks. I am PCSing in December, so there may be just a bit of a break. There is so much going on right now I don't know where to begin. The new WO study has completed its trip around the world and I am waiting on some preliminary results. Not that I have any doubts about what we want. I think we have all made it pretty plain that we need some major improvements. I hope the SECARMY is not DEAF to our desires.

Approaching 1000 Members!

OFF TO A GOOD START

Well, off we went, into the wild world of Warrant Officers! So far it has been amazing. Support is coming from all over. It is as if there is no outlet to reach our fellow WOs. I have added a discussion group for those who would like to ask opinions or help from each other. Please do not flame anyone. Everyone is welcome here. If one Warrant is below standard, it is because we, as a whole, do not force the army to provide the same type of support they provide commissioned officers and NCOs. We must help each other and stand as one.

I did forget to provide my name when I started. Sorry. New e-mail account and I forgot to set up an automatic signature. I changed the account again. The new e-mail is wocorps@ponymail.com. I did this because they can provide additional services like ListServers and POP3 mail instead of web based mail. It makes it easier to distribute. I will discuss the different options we can use in a later forum. I expect another major overhaul in April. In the mean time, please let me know if you have any ideas that will make this a better project for us all.

MENTORS

Here I sit.  I get to meet and talk to others from around Germany. It is amazing, but everyone is saying the same thing; where are the W-4's? No one seems to have any at the company level. Don't get me wrong, there are some around. Mainly maintenance pilots. Maintenance pilots are not the best for mentor at the company level because they are busy. Real busy. And real short. Look around. Many units are at 50% or less. There is always a sort of separation between the maintenance guys and the rest of the pilots. There needs to be a senior warrant at the company level to be a mentor. Someone to be the interface between the commander and the WO's.  Whoever is available should step forward and fill the need.

Interesting Tidbit

Just counted the CW5s in Germany. They are pretty short since DA doesn't ODP all the requirements. On the other end of the spectrum, we have twice the # of WO1s that we have CW5s. Combined they total less than 80. That's the extremes. CW2s are the largest group. They have more than the WO1s, CW3s, CW4s, and CW5s combined. What does that say about the experience level in the Corps?
